Markus Christen
BraInform has been founded by Markus Christen, researcher and science writer.
PD Dr. sc. ETH Markus Christen studied philosophy (main subject), physics, mathematics and biology at the University of Berne (1989-1996). During 1996 to 2001, he worked as project manager and (science) journalist for various media and companies. He obtained his PhD in Neuroinformatics at the ETH Zurich (2001-2006). Further engagements include the Summer School of Complex Systems at the Santa Fe Institute (2002) and a predoctoral fellowship at the Max-Planck Institute of the History of Science in Berlin (2005). From 2007 to 2010, He was postdoctoral researcher at the Graduate Program of Interdisciplinary Ethics Research of the URPP Ethics, University of Zurich. From 2011 to 2013, he was Visiting Scholar at the Psychology Department of the University of Notre Dame, Indiana, USA. 2015 he finished his habilitation in Biomedial Ethics at the University of Zurich.
Currently, he is research group leader at the Institute of Biomedical Ethics and History of Medicine of the University of Zurich and managing director of the UZH Digital Society Initiative of the University of Zurich.
